Sophie Lewis graduated Summa Cum Laude from Skidmore College with a B.S. and special honors in Theater, and two minor degrees in Art History and Asian Studies — (playing the sitar counted for credit). She also studied Shakespeare in London, at the British Academy of Dramatic Arts. While in Europe she enjoyed hiking in the Swiss Alps and seeing Lady Gaga in Bulgaria.
Sophie came to RMG via NYC where she worked as a project manager for the Lakeside Group of Companies, and as an administrative assistant for New Dramatists. All the while, she studied play-writing under Stephanie Fleischmann, Arlene Hutton, and Stefanie Zadravec. Sophie won a scholarship award from the Disquiet International Literary Program for her short piece, “Platform.” Her theater experience also extends to having worked as a PA on the Lake Lucille Project and as an apprentice at Williamstown Theater Festival.
A newbie to LA, Sophie still doesn’t understand how to parallel park, but she’s managed to form her own all-female playwright group. If you can’t find Sophie nerding out over playwrights and TV writers, she’s probably on the dance floor busting out the ol’ pop n’ lock.
